Below is a list of the Application types that you can lodge online. Please select the required application type and click the Next button to continue.
Section 80 Notifications and Building Consents such as 29A, Flooding and Siting can only be lodged by a registered user

If you are a registered user and need to close the application lodgement before you have completed the process, you can return to the application by selecting 'Applications', on the menu bar, and then 'Edit Application'. This will list any applications you are yet to complete. You can then select the application and complete the lodgement from where you left the process.
For all Planning Permit Applications you are require to attach a Copy of title, which can be obtain from Land Data.

Medium Density HousingThis includes all unit development in residential zones.

Mixed Use DevelopmentThis includes all development (including any associated use component) which has both a commercial and residential component.

Change of UseThis includes applications for:
  • A new use.
  • A request to waive or reduce car parking requirements associated with an existing or a new use.


  • Single Dwelling DevelopmentThis includes applications for:
  • Construction or extension to dwellings on a lot with an area less than 300m2.
  • Demolition, construction, extension or alteration to dwellings in a Heritage Overlay.
  • The construction or extension to dwellings in a Special Building Overlay.


  • Advertising SignsThese are applications for Signage only.

    Non Residential DevelopmentThis type includes all non-residential development business, industrial, etc. If your non residential development also contains a use component (such as a request to reduce or waive car parking) you can also submit the combined development/use application through this type.

    Tree RemovalThis includes all applications for the removal, destruction or lopping of vegetation under the Vegetation Protection Overlay, Environmental Significance Overlay or Clause 52.17 (Native Vegetation) of the Darebin Planning Scheme

    Additional information for an existing applicationThis type can only be used to submit further information relating to an existing application for planning permit. This includes responses to requests for further information, Section 50 amendments or revised plans and documents.
    This type cannot be used to submit any new applications whether they are for amendments to existing Planning Permits (under Section 72 or Secondary Consent) Condition Plans, Extensions of Time, Section 57A amendments and the like.

    Crossover ApplicationsApplication to seek approval to obtain a Vehicle Crossover Permit to modify or construct a new vehicle crossing.

    Crossover PermitConsent form to acquire a Vehicle Crossover Permit and begin works to modify or install a new Crossover. Please Note: To apply for a crossover permit you are required to have an approved crossover application.

    Road Opening PermitApplication form to acquire a Road Opening Permit and begin works.

    Stormwater - Legal Point of Discharge ApplicationApplication for Council report indicating stormwater point of discharge from an allotment.

    Business Recycling Bin(s)Each business located in the City of Darebin is entitled to apply for two (2) 240 litre mobile recycling bin, collected fortnightly.
    This service is not available to businesses operating from residential properties.
    An initial cost of $94.50 (GST Exempt) per bin will be charged.
    Refer to the Conditions of Use for further information.
    Not for profit organisations may be entitled to a discount and should complete the Not For Profit Organisation Recycling Form. A copy of that form is available for download from Council’s website or by calling 8470 8888.

    Directional SignageLodge an application for Council to provide direction signage
    This service is only provided for Community organisations.
    A non-refundable assessment fee of $150.00 is payable with the application. An additional fee of $225.00 for the installation of each sign will be payable if the application is successful and must be paid before any installation works are commenced
    Work ZonesLodge an application for Council to provide work Zone permits
    A non-refundable assessment fee of $187.21 is payable with the application. An additional fee of $624.82 to provide and install the required signs as well as a fee of $187.21 per parking bay per month will be payable if the application is successful. All must be paid before any work zones are implemented.
    Car Share BaysLodge an application for Council to provide Car Share Bays within the City of Darebin
    Fees for the installation of Car Share Bays will be payable if the application is successful and must be paid before any installation works are commenced
    Cycle Parking or InfrastructureLodge an application for Council to provide bicycle hoops or infrastructure within the City of Darebin. Upon receipt of fees, Council will assess the area near your development to determine if there is an appropriate location for bicycle hoops. If there is already bicycle parking or no suitable location can be found, the contribution will go towards other bicycle infrastructure such bike lanes
    A non-refundable fee of $350.00 per hoop is payable with the application. Note: 1 bicycle hoop contains 2 bicycle parking spaces. All fees must be paid before any installation works are commenced.

    Concession ApplicationsThe fees will be waived if you hold one of the approved concession cards listed on the application form.
